That's why I got a duffel bag with no wheels that is as big as my international rolling luggage. The interior is actually larger than my rolling luggage since there are no wheels or handle. No one has ever stopped me from bringing it on a regional jet. I had been stopped with my rolling luggage a few times.

On one flight where they were taking all rolling luggage before boarding. I had a FA look at it intently and asked if it was too big. I put it into the sizer and I was let through no problem.
