Nothing in Shannon its just an airport really. Limmerick is great fun and has character but nothing luxurious. Ashford castle is about 90 minutes away. A 13th century castle with every amenity you could ever dream of and two great resturants to boot. Dromoland castle is in Couty Clare and about 15 minutes away from Shannon airport. Dromoland is very nice has its own golf course and health club ect... If you dont mind the drive I'd go with Ashford if you want to be really close Dromoland is very nice but I prefer Ashford. Have a Guinness for me....
