Last time I talked to the hotel, it was at ~97% occupancy, with all bookings being non-refundable.
I would pay $900 for a night (or even two nights) given the situation. The four night minimum really sticks in my craw, on principle, even if it were something I might be inclined to do of my own volition.

Makes you wonder how much business they end up losing this way. Two years ago, we were going to my college's 25th, and wanted to stay at a particular hotel. We were planning on arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Sunday. The hotel had jacked up prices outrageously for the event (which we expected), and was imposing a Tuesday through Sunday mandatory stay. We passed on the "opportunity, as did the majority of my classmates.

For my husband and me, it was not a matter of money, really, but of scheduling (he could not get there on Tuesday, and I had no desire to arrive without him, especially when Reunion events did not really begin until Thursday), and of principle (paying for an extra night "because they said so," did not sit well with us).
