I have a related question. I have a RFS flight from Heathrow at 07.20 early in May in a 777 to Madrid and have been offered an upgrade to Club for £79. Will I earn any Avios and tier points if I go ahead with the upgrade? It might be worth it if so, but not otherwise, unless the Club configuration will be CW rather than CE, which I assume is likely and might be fun. As a Gold I will have lounge access anyway, limiting the benefit of the paid upgrade. Incidentally, everything in front of row 26 seems greyed out, which I assume is due to the First/CW/WTP of the aircraft.
