Perhaps they were just on passes and there were empty seats in J. There were many empty J seats on my HKG flights lately. I am not aware of them needing to fly crew over to HKG to work the return flight as they should have enough from both AC015 & AC007. I am guessing you knew they were crew from their luggage?
