1.) No, you cannot use the F lounge in HKG.
2.) No, you will not be issued an F lounge invite in JFK (or HKG for that matter).
3.) No you cannot use the F checkin line in Hong Kong.
You will be on a J class ticket HKG-JNB, you are not "ticketed in F". J class through and through. There is no such thing as an F class ticket to JNB these days. The only people eligible to use the F lounge/counters/etc. to JNB are CX elites, OneWorld Emeralds and passengers on a same-day (airport defined "same day", the cutoff is really around 3am) transit. Aka, at the strictest interpretation either <24 hours or end of day, whichever is shorter. Definitely not 2 weeks. You are on a stopover, not a transit.
I think you misread the FAQ and misinterpreted the rules about a "transit". Unfortunately, you're not in transit, nor will your ticket there be F class. Had you flown straight through to JNB from JFK without stopping over in HKG, then indeed you would have access due to the OneWorld rules and CX policy of granting you basically F services at HKG due to your inbound boarding pass (but again, CX would still see the HKG-JNB sector in J. They're just granting the transit folks that right due to the inbound F class boarding pass). That's what the FAQ means. A stopover at HKG is generally defined for CX F services as a stay <24 hours or crossing two airport days, whichever is shorter. There is some variability here but definitely 2 weeks is not going to happen. Sorry.
Thanks. I am aware it's not genuinely a transit, hence why I felt the need to ask.
I stand corrected that the stopover is 5 days, but I imagine that's long enough to also be outside the scope of "variability" and getting lucky.
Not a huge deal, I will have F lounge access on the return trip (HKG-NA in F). And during the second stopover in HKG I also have a trip to PEK in CX or KA F, so I'll have HKG F lounge access on the outbound to PEK too. Not a huge loss, 2/3 of HKG departures.
It's a shame about no F check-in access for J JNB legs, but shouldn't make a difference hopefully.
