They did offer you to reroute on a different AZ flights which you do not like, how about you rebooking you via different airport?
Weirdly enough, even revenue tickets for that day on AZ/AF/KL metal with a short connection seems to be around 1000€.
Good idea to route through different airports. How can I see what is available? When I search for a one way on that date I get something like "our system is down, try later." When I search as a round trip, the website shows no flights available for March 29 outbound. Does show flights available (at least the number of miles needed appears) for March 28, which could work, but when I select that date I get a message that "no flights are available" on that day. Tried the interface through KLM instead of AF and still get same messages.
