Lol a joke indeed...

Correct, Air Asia points are worthless, I've been using Air Asia for the past 3 years flying numerous destinations between Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. On the majority of flights I have not even been issued the point and for the ones I have, they're not even worth a few extra kilo's of excess baggage!
I've flown from London to Sylhet in Bangladesh return just twice with Biman Bangladesh Airlines and have been awarded more than enough points which I've used recently to fly from Sylhet to Dhaka to Singapore and back to Dhaka which cost 25000 points plus taxes. I even had 1000 points remaining which I requested to use on 6 kilo's extra baggage which I had for the Sylhet to Dhaka leg. I was issued with a miscellaneous something something tickets and guess what? The points were not even deducted!

I've got quite a few hard earned points on Air Asia. What a joke they are. Worth near nothing. And let's take this. DMK-PNH Premium Flex with 25 KG of luggage. 3165 Baht to buy the ticket. Not bad actually for what amounts to first class with a free meal and priority bags, a lot of Thai exit tax and priority check in and boarding. But if you cash in the minimum points (500) the fare goes up to 3200 Baht (sic, yea really, for those of you who didn't take Latin). And if I cash in all my points, the fare doesn't drop very much at all. Yes I don't really have a lot of points despite a round trip to SYD and heavens knows how many trips to PNH and KKC.

So conclusion.....Errr a mileage ticket that costs more money than the paid fare?? I will never ever trash UA again.

So recall this on Air Asia.

Actually if you play around with options you will find that the points required are non-linear to the $$$ savings. So you can make it pay. That's if you really care about a few bucks that this program provides. My experience is that Air Asia is light years ahead of where they were early on. Clearly no one has told their Mileage Dept.

Bottom line. Forget it. I won't of course, as I am a mileage junkie and on this Board.[/QUOTE]
