If by rectify it you mean issue you a ticket on the original TLV-FCO-LHR flights then no, they cannot force AZ to open award availability.
They did offer you to reroute on a different AZ flights which you do not like, how about you rebooking you via different airport?

Weirdly enough, even revenue tickets for that day on AZ/AF/KL metal with a short connection seems to be around 1000€.
