[b]As previously posted I have on again off again considered switching to AS from United for my West Coast stuff (About 100-125 RT's annually.
As I mull this over two things stick out:
1) Change Fee's; How is AS? are they some what liberal, I often fly on discounted (seldom heavily discounted) fares and am paying about $100.00 weekly in penalties. It is getting worse at UA too. Is Alaska any better, mind you, I'm not trying to skirt the system rather looking for flexibility. I also buy A LOT of full fares, which pose other problems (Refund VS. vOUCHer.
Don't do it! Alaska is the worst.
Their goal is raking in the revenue. They tried to charge me a change fee on a full fare United ticket I wanted to use on an Alaska flight. Both flights were for the same full fare price!
I have found no relief on change fees from Alsaka. On Alaska I just book the flight and hold till dearture and pay for it at the gate.
I'm not MVP, but they are doing their best to discourage me from wanting to pursue MVP status.
