I filled in an application for Marco Polo Green while flying CX First Class. That was around March 2015. Green status was free for a year through this application method. Since the Marco Polo changes in the past year, I received my second year of Green for free even though I didn't have any qualifying activity. I'm not sure if the free Green application and status is still an offering. It won't hurt to ask an FA, while flying First or Business Class.
