OZ has had more incidents than you would ideally like to see. Are they "safe"? Yes. Air travel in general is incredibly safe. You're much more likely to die driving to JFK than on an Asiana flight. But there are definitely safer airlines. The recent cost cutting, and a relatively unhappy group of pilots, provide additional bases for concern.
