Thanks to both of you. I have checked out other websites (including disboards, as recommended by jnahand) and it appears my summation of the comparison is valid. What I hadn't mentioned in my initial post was that I already have a room booked in the lodge (Sugar Loaf Key) and was considering changing to the main building. Based on your recommendations, I will stick with what I've got!

Also at the GF there's a bellman named Jamie...has been there since they opened (which is when we started staying there) -- he's the best!
