after the invoices were sent on December 14, I had a reply from AF three weeks later that the claim was valid and that a refund would make its way within two weeks of the mail date.
Got refunded for the clothes plus rental of the car seat within two weeks indeed.
so it took approximately two months to get everything sorted out, not great but could be worse either
I think the speed varies depending on a) the complexity of the claim and b) the class you booked. Last year my baggage was delayed FOUR times so I had lots of experience with the process. In J (AF) a refund was processed within 4 days and no receipts were required. In Y (KL) it took about 2 weeks and receipts had to be sent.
