IMO, the Renaissance is nicer. Next to the Convention Center, short walk to the Verizon Center.

But the Metro Center Marriott is right next to the Metro station (Red, Orange/Silver/Blue), if that's what you need.

The Ren is about three blocks from Mt. Vernon (Yellow/Green), or Chinatown (Red, Green/Yellow).

If you can get the Ren, also consider the Marquis which is a block away.
