There's only one Sheraton Grand that's slightly less luxurious than a SR, and that's SGS. The ones I stayed at --Tokyo Bay, Macau, Miyazaki, Hiroshima, LA, Phoenix-- aren't anywhere near SR standards. Some aren't bad hotels, but there's nothing "Grand" about them. It's just some Starwood marketing BS that hotels apply for and have granted if they fulfill some loosely defined criteria -- similar to the "resort" designation that can be a real head scratcher in some cases.
