So I see there is mention of a Gold to Plat, but is it possible to upgrade from a very old card (Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® American Express®) to a Amex Platinum card? I have great credit (800+), make about 50k a year, and only have a total of four cards. I figure I would get approved on its own for the Plat but I don't really want/need to open another card, especially because I DO think this old card has a $95 fee. I basically get zero perks from it and charge maybe $50 to $100 a year on it now just to keep it open for credit history. I would like to make it something useful that I actually use.

Also, do you know if upgrading still qualifies for sign up bonus chances? Do I just call the Amex number on the back of the card and ask to upgrade?
