I just found 2 AA Saver seats from CDG to OMA on July14 at 12:15, we will be in Varenna July 11/12 so have the 13th to get there. One option would be simply take the train to Milan then fly to CDG drop off our bags at the Hilton then take the train to spend a pleasant evening in Paris.

Option 2 would be to take the train from Varenna to Milan then Milan to Paris, I assume this would take all day. When would then have to get from the train station to CGD with luggage. I assume the train would be very pleasant compared to flying but not sure about the logistics.

Any advice would be great.
