Cardholders on staff travel may enter lounges according to their status (although, on staff travel standby, you're often not accepted until the last minute, so wouldn't have time to stop in the lounge.)

At LHR, bags aren't accepted until you are. They're tagged in advance but don't get taken until you're confirmed, when you then have to drop off your bags and hurry through security. (Conformance is 10 minutes shorter for staff).

Sometimes you standby at the gate, in which case checked bags are taken before you go through.
