I had essentially the same experience. When I woke up this morning, I had two Citi Biz cards open (had not been using either for a while). I closed one via SM this afternoon. After waiting about an hour, I get email indicating I had a SM waiting. I logged in, and got an error (because, I think, that account was now closed). Then used the link to open a new Biz card. Instant approval, $20K credit line.

Yeah, there's no guarantee that the bonus will happen, but it seems like a worthwhile shot.
