Serious growing pains at the new AA, but can't fault them for this one. That announced last year that no one would be able to qualify for it for 2016 activity.
I can. It's pretty crappy to fly enough miles for it the year before and refuse to give it - only to turn around and sell it for $1500 beginning of next year.

I found the offer insulting.
That's not an olive branch. That's a switch we just got beat with it. And this is the second time AA screwed 75k flyers (at least those that came from US prior to DM disappearing).
What they should have done is said "We're introducing PPro in January. If you earn 75k EQMs, you can have PPro starting January 1,2 017. There will be no status increase until Jan 1."
That's an olive branch - and probably would have gotten more people in the mid 60k EQM range to fly a little more to cross the threshold. Instead, this is just a money grab for something they could have easily given to people who qualified on 2016 travel.
Reality was, until this year, there was no real incentive to credit AA after hitting PLAT if you weren't going to make EXP. They probably could have gotten some of that early January travel moved up had they given people a reason to.
