Your 'discussion' has clarified my attitude that I *don't* want to return the car to Termini... this is a holiday (as Perche reminded me in the FCO ground transportation thread) and my intent here is to make my life easy.

So I'm looking for a rental return location that's easy to reach (coming from Terracina), easy to find, easy to return the car, then easy to grab a taxi into the centre. Taxi cost/distance is a very very distant second behind easy.

And Perche, I agree - the sooner I can ditch the car the better!

So, Tiburtina? Or will that also involve driving around a multistory carpark looking for a Hertz sign? Would a return station like EUR (Viale Shakespeare, from the look of the Google street view there's even a cafe next door for the family to get a drink while I sort paperwork) be a good idea?
