One more thing... regarding that long layover in SJC. Technically, because it is an AA award, the only AS flights you are allowed are to get you to an AA gateway city. If its close to the travel date and the seats are empty then sometimes you can get a better connection on AS, but the idea is to save as many of the AS award seats to those travelling on AS awards as possible. But contrary to what the ticket says, AS will let you standby if its the last leg of your flight. So I'd suggest that you call Athe Partner Desk right before you leave Maui and see if they will put you on an AS flight, and if that doesnt work, go to the AS counter in SJC and ask to stand by.
