In Jager vs easyJet the ruling was that '"knock on” delays will not constitute extraordinary circumstances and that easyJet was liable to pay the compensation.
Dunbar vs easyJet found that the Jager ruling was too broad but found that not having sufficient spare aircraft and crew ready to cover a "knock on" delay is not a defence if the airline knew or could reasonable foresee they were going to need them. The Judge finding against easyJet said, "I am not satisfied that everything reasonably possible was done bearing in mind the fact that the delay was known about for many hours."
