OP, there are a great many threads discussing exactly the question you raised so I would recommend searching for them if you want to benefit from others' discussions, tips, etc.
There is a direct train from the BRU airport to rotterdam and amsterdam. But i think in march/april there is refurbishment of tracks, etc and the train will not be direct, with parts of the journey by bus
