Hi All,

Business Platinum card holder here who frequently redeems MR points for flights via Amex Travel, receiving 50% of the points back as a card benefit typically within 1-3 days of purchase / redemption. I have done this about 20 times since the benefit was introduced and never had any issues.

Problem:

Over the last month, every time I run a flight search on the Amex travel site, I am immediately logged out and shown an error message that reads:

'- We apologize, the Membership RewardsŪ system is currently unavailable.' (photo attached)

I attempt to log back in, and am just re-routed to this message. I have tried multiple browsers, cleared cache, different computers, etc. and all are giving me the same error message.

I AM able to transfer the points out (did a test transaction) as well as PAY for flight via the Amex travel site, just cannot redeem points.

Amex Response(s) So Far:

I have reached out via chat, twitter, and phone endless times speaking to at least 20 different people in the Amex Travel, Platinum Services, Card Services and Digital Tech Support departments, who basically each tell me why they are not the ones responsible and who I need to speak to, which results in me just continuously being transferred, told my account is in good standing and that someone will get back to me (they haven't).

One agent recommended that I pay for the flight in full and then call in to MR as they can apply the points manually. I was hesitant to do this as I wasn't confident that I would get the 50% points back. The agent confirmed I would, so I booked a short one-way before I went crazy as I do have about 4 bookings I need to make. While the points were applied manually, it has been almost a week and no 50% redemption (I know they say up to 8 weeks but typically I get then within 72 hours).

Reaching out to you all to see if anyone is experiencing similar issues or has a solution for me? It is super frustrating to me that Amex is announcing all these new 'benefits' with their Platinum cards if you book through the Amex Travel site, however I cannot use any of the points I have for this purpose.

Is anyone having issues redeeming MR points for flights? Every time I run a search it logs me out, then when I try to log back in I get the following error message:

I called last night and was told to give it an hour or two.

I called this morning and was told that my account wasn't 'activated' to redeem MR points (I have done so dozens of times in the past)

Finally called this afternoon and was told to give it 30-40 minutes to fix itself.

Anyone else experiencing issues?
