most cashier knows debit card max daily is 500 and I do not think they care you MS or gift card, as long as you make it simple for them by not asking 3 or 4 payments, sometimes I use whatever left over at the Kroger for groceries, so I will try to get 490 or 495 or 499 mo each time. I only use my now dead buxx card as a back up in case they notice I went from a swipe to a chip reader if the gebit gets denied.
I vary my amounts from 495 to 499.11 also and then use the change left to buy a big gulp at my Valero I bought the OV from in the first place then pay the difference with my AMEX ED card to get to 20 transactions. The CSR's get a chuckle out of me draining the cards there.
Before anybody asks which Valero, I am the only one allowed to use credit and all the CSR's know everybody else is cash or debit. I got grandfathered in because they know me and haven't had any issues.
