I've lived the opposite experience; I've turned down solid job opportunities in Toronto at better pay and quicker advancement in order to remain in Montreal. The Toronto lifestyle does not suit me, and I have no desire to relocate to Toronto so I can pay twice as much to live half as well.
I'd daresay that there are as many personal reasons for liking / not liking a place as there are people. Everyone's reasons are different, whether having to do with family or friends in the area, cost of living, priorities, lifestyle, availability of services... People are different.
From your comments on this thread -- prioritizing money, lower taxes, a right-wing mentality, and antipathy towards French, towards unions and towards social services, I can see that Montreal was probably not a very good fit for you. Frankly, you're probably happier elsewhere. But plenty of people believe the opposite.
Why make stuff up to make a point?
I've never worked in Quebec.
Talent pool is talent pool and it is bigger in Toronto. Saying anything different discredited all your text.
