BA wanted £627, which I thought was a bit expensive for what it actually offers these days. So I used 73,000 Avios to knock £400 off the cost. I make that £0.55/Avios, which isn't great. But OTOH we have a large Avios pile, and that saving just about covers the cost of 2 week's SUV rental in the US next month.
Yeah, I'm actually thinking of using Avios to reduce a CE fare, rather than go ET. It's a GLA - LON - VCE, so have connection options in LHR, LGW and LCY !
It'd be nice to sample the new domestic CE !
But if I combine with a car, it will be cash only, and reduces my connection options for some reason.
I also have a decent chunk of Avios, even after a recent GLA -BOS F redemption.
