I think that's good suggestions, 69cents extra is fine and simple comparing give them trouble and maybe even want to see your gift card, I think I am going to do max 499 each time and get multiple mo if needed.

Maybe they now associate with split payment with GC use. I would only do split payment with a buxx card as second card and also ask what is the limit for cash back so they would assume I wasn't using GC. Now I just stay under $500 and eat the extra $.70 to avoid scrutiny.
