I am looking at staying for six nights in the Ali'i tower in July, with my family (wife and 14 year old daughter). Booking through AMEX FHR and as a HH Gold, could someone summarize what benefits i would get? Is the breakfast you get as a FHR good?
Would book the resort view and hope for upgrade, thinking that FHR and Gold should result in a upgrade, or am i misstaken?
And finally, its either this, or the club room at Sheraton Waikiki, please leave feedback to help us decide.

If you book using FHR you don't qualify for HHonors benefits. To get the benefits you have to book direct or through certain channels. Now thats not to say some hotels might not still give you the benefits, but its not guaranteed.
As for upgrades at the property, it is very ymmv at this resort. I have stayed there twice, once got an amazing upgrade to the rainbow tower suite. The other time i got a "view" upgrade, so i would make sure you book what you want.
