Totally agree, plus you are burning touring time as well. Also, it's Africa so things don't always run to schedule...
5 days in Botswana would give you four nights - you could get to one or two camps, which would be nice.
I would check on accommodation ASAP as I had trouble last October booking a trip for June / July this year.
