Interesting. That's the "fee" variant; if it were an add/collect it would say something about "difference in fare". In that case, UA intends it to be completely non-refundable; however in practice anything which doesn't re-issue the coupon (SDCs or even exchanges) tend to preserve the upgrade.

I've usually seen those offers book into A (domestic) and ZN (p.s.) but it's completely arbitrary.
