To me it's not clear what you mean by "Cabin crew didnt speak english, at all". Do you mean that safety announcements were not made in English or that you tried to communicate in English with the crew but were not understood? I find it very hard to believe that no one in the crew spoke English given my experience with AF.

I am under the impression - but I may be wrong - that airlines are not under the obligation to make announcements in English, just to try to use languages that are understood by most of the passengers. With a passenger list with mostly German and French surnames I don't see why they should include English unless they leave out French or German. Most people don't listen anyway and all seats have those leaflets with safety instructions that anyone should understand.
