It seems inadequate to me. What we have seen elsewhere is if you set a figure you think is acceptable, perhaps in dollar terms, and simply pursue it, then BA tends to pay up rather than (e.g.) end up in a Californian small claims court. So set yourself a suitable recovery amount (e.g half the fare of that sector?), and go for it. One advantage is that puts you in the driving seat, the timetable is court driven, but you stop waiting around for BA to respond.
