Just as a heads up, I've been told by the DL DM line that you CANNOT SDS for a later flight and expect Delta to carry you through to your final destination if you don't make the flight. I was warned of this as I was worried I'd get stuck somewhere. Whether this is true or not, who knows.
Of course, I'm aware of the risk of being stuck in ATL. My plan would be, to SDS (if I can't SDC) for the 2nd or 3rd to last flight of the day, but, ONLY if the fare buckets show something like Y9, etc.
