I think he comes across poorly and does not really answer the OP's issues at all. The OP makes no complaints about food for purchase. What he says (and I agree) is how low can an airline go to charge £2.30 for hot water and a tea bag.

For me, it's obvious who should be replying to the letter - Willie Walsh. AC is but a mere puppet. This is obvious in his justification by comparing BA with three other 'legacy airlines'. Two of which are also IAG. And the third (SAS) at least still offers free tea and coffee to all customers.
