Back on topic, steamed parsnips are a bit meh - they do need something to cheer them up.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, the British historically used parsnips as their main carbohydrate, before the potato came to our green and pleasant.
Although if this meal was loaded in the US we can point the finger at the American caterers. I think I would have been tempted to put some (a lot of) butter on them.
