I stayed in December recently. I was only Gold, but was upgraded to the club level. The club level is awesome, with the selection of food at breakfast is excellent. There is also an afternoon aperitif at the club room, which is also nice.

The staff are consistently friendly and will try to help if you encounter any issues.

The location is not central, and no, there aren't restaurants within 5 minute walking distance, but there is a free shuttle every 30 minutes. Also, if you're impatient, you can always call Uber. There are TON of Uber rides in the area, so you don't have to wait very long.

I did walk from downtown to the hotel during the day, and it's not picturesque but it was ok. I wouldn't walk during the night though.

Depending on which currency you're used to, the Uber rides are DIRT CHEAP!!! Most of my rides to downtown were around ZAR 20 (1.5 GBP) or less. I mean really, you have to wonder if you're obsessing too much about the location if the Uber rides are so damn cheap. We once took a ride from across town, from the beach area, back to our hotel and it was a whopping ZAR 60 (3.5 GBP). I couldn't go a yard in London for that cheap.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely, especially with points, and if you have Gold or Platinum status, it's almost a no-brainer.
