Seems as though in the next week or so, I will have to travel to Bogota, Colombia. Needless to say, I'm a little concerned about this trip due to the Travel Warning out by the US government. Having just spent a six month stint in the Balkans, I'm now stranger to sometimes unnecessary warnings, but this seems a little different. I don't expect that I will be leaving Bogota, and from what little information I could gather, it is relatively safe inside the city. However, the 3,000 annual kidnappings for ransom don't really bode too well with me!

I'd be interested in learning of any one else's recent experiences in Colombia or any advice anyone can share.
