When I call the SQ service center to book the flight, they said that they can't see 2 seats available for the SIN-SYD leg because when they are searching the award, they are doing a multi-city search instead of checking one leg at a time(which is what I did).
Maybe I'm new to this, but am I searching award availability correctly? To confirm the reps point, I made a multi-city search and ran into the same issue(the SIN-SYD was not available for 2 passengers at the saver level). I ended up booking the same flight for the day after as they had availability for 2.
Anyone have this experience? Thanks
Yes. This is common occurrence with SQ awards. Unfortunately, SQ seems to have married segment logic for awards. I ran into this situation just last week. I was looking for an F reward on SQ7 from LAX-SIN (via ICN), and nothing was available. But LAX-ICN-SIN-CGK was available with LAX-ICN-SIN being on SQ7.
