Most of AA's NYC domestic ops are centered around LGA, although they do have decent service to EWR from ORD (some mainline and some RJs). Their ORD-JFK flights aren't great (not a large frequency and seems to be moving the the wrong direction anecdotally).
All AA ORD-NYC flights are 'exception markets' for first so you get actual meal service even though the distance isn't long enough per the meal charts.
Of course UA has everything centered around EWR -- which could be good or bad, depending on preference.
Best,
Fair points.
-AA is the only one that gives you JFK, EWR, and LGA from ORD though as noted EWR / JFK
-DL is JFK and LGA (shuttle flight in/out of Marine terminal) only from ORD
-UA is LGA and EWR only from ORD
