Good or Bad advice from Zagat or other review?
I figure my $14.95 subscription to Zagat.com was a very good investment (it's now USD 19.95). The last two places I tried solely on their reviews were Delfina in San Francisco (great Mediterranean) and Blue Moon in Ft. Lauderdale (incredible Sunday brunch that I highly recommend), and both were wonderful dining experiences and good values.
I don't trust the SF Chronicle restaurant reviews (sfgate.com) after two bad experiences with their "top 100". I do still value the Washington Post, especially their Going-Out-Gurus, as far as food & entertainment are concerned.
Do you FT'ers have major disagreements with Zagat or Michelin or other major guides? Do you expecially trust or distrust any local or regional guides or reviews? Are there any guides or reviews you make it a point to consult before a trip?
