First time use of Diamond Room Availability Guarantee!

I was in Hong Kong last week and stayed at the wonderful Grand Hyatt. About the only thing this hotel lacks are Harborview balconies, like the Mandarin has.

On my day of checkout (Monday), I learned that I needed to come back to HK on Friday night. It turns out the hotel was booked full, but I mumbled so
mething about guaranteed room availability and the front desk agent immediately acknowldged my status and said that indeed I was entitled to 72 hour room reservation availability, went to the back room and came back with a confirmation a few minutes later. ^

Someone mentioned to me that this hotel is one of the primary training grounds for Hyatt staff/management; if so, that explains why a standard front desk agent (non-supervisor) was so well versed in GP rules and was able to handle this so efficiently herself.

Come Friday night, I was in a beautiful harborview room on the 33rd floor above the Grand Club with private elevator which was very cool.

IMO, some of the Asia/Pacific GH's are more like Park Hyatts than standard Hyatts -- maybe just a little larger in the number of rooms, but the standard of decor/amenities and service seems comparable to say the Park Hyatt in SF.
