For those who want to eat foie gras, confit etc but don't want to pay Fauchon prices, there is a very nice small restaurant in the Rue Blanche (9ème). Forgot the name, but was there yesterday. They have their own production in the Périgord, serve all their specialties in the restaurant and sell their products at shop prices. A wonderful coffret (wooden box) with foie gras, mousse de foie gras and duck, confit d'oie costs € 42.-.

The restaurant is easy to find: go to Place Blanche and walk down the Rue Blanche. About half way down on the left handside. You can't miss it, the products are in the window. You do not go there for the luxury but for what you get onto your plate.
