Depends how far afield you are going, but where we like traveling (HKT, DPS, SEZ, MRU, MLE is a short list) Americans are relatively rare, so I felt we were viewed as an exotic species.
Granted, since me and Mrs. Pokeable are of Asian descent, everyone initially asks us if we are Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc.
