They also don't print out any EMV info on the receipt. It also takes a while to go to the PIN prompt for my Diners Club MC, too.
The newer 99 Ranch here still doesn't have EMV, either. I would have expected all of them to have switched over by now considering the size of the chain.
The side effect of "bolt on EMV" solutions. The POS software doesn't know the difference between, an insert swipe or tap. To the POS software it's all swipe. The card reader is what instead knows and is all the brains.
