I tried to add in additional stopovers as you mentioned, but the fare went up massively, so perhaps I am doing something wrong?
Also fare rules are almost impossible to decipher. From what I can make out changes are allowed for 150GBP and then repriced at historical fares - is there a consensus on whether this is better than repricing at current fares?
Here's an example with a stop in Shanghai as well as Hong Kong.
What stops would you actually like? They have to be compatible with fare routings too, but most Asia gateways can work.
Note that Matrix sometimes displays a higher price as you're selecting the individual flights, but then once you've bundled them together realises they're compatible with a cheaper fare.
In terms of changes, historical pricing is usually better, particularly if you can keep the same fare basis as you know what that fare is, whereas current fares could be anything.
FYI the reprice at historical is for changes made after departure. Before departure, it depends on what part of the fare you're changing.
