Sad Story....what should I do?
WARNING: This is a long story. I tried to cut it down but like everything it's complicated. Please read on if you have experience with AS and wouldn't mind helping:
Made online reservations on 9/15 for 9/29 flight w/ return 10/2. Get to the airport (SEA) on Friday 9/29 heading to SJC. I go to the Kiosk to check in...says see attendant. Attendant says reservation doesn't exist, get sent to Gate D (Customer Service). Customer Service says reservation was only a hold no CC # on file...sorry about that, bye. I say no, it was a reservation, here's my confirmation code. They say, sorry flight is full, it was only a hold, bye. I say I have to get on the flight. They say I can get a 2-hour later connecting flight through Portland for a grand total of 4 hours late plus it costs $40 more.
20 minutes later have $20 more expensive ticket to Portland and am on standby for original flight. I get the last standby seat and instead of my confirmed window seat I'm sitting middle seat bulkhead row for $20 more. I'm mad, but not overly since I've had no previous problems with AS and it is possible I hit hold instead of buy ticket.
Flight back:
Get to SJC On Monday (today) and go to Kiosk. Same story - see attendant. I see the Service Rep. and she says I'm not on the flight. I give her my ticket and she says it's for Sunday 10/1. I say well there might have been a mistake since my original flight was cancelled, but it was always supposed to be 10/2. She says sorry you missed your flight, there's a $50 change ticket fee. I say, no the ticket is wrong. She says $50. I say, look there was a mistake could you just change it. She says no. I say it's Monday @ 8:30pm, the flight isn't full, please change it (by this point I'm mad because this is the second mistake). She says okay, but that she's putting down a note in my file that I was "problematic" and I'll never get the fee waved again! I say fine...whatever...I need to get on the plane.
I get home, open my CC bill (My Alaska Visa) and find a charge by AS for the original ticket on 9/15!!!
What do I do?!? I'm so mad. I went through lots of hassle, worry and delay from that first mistake. Got put down as "problematic", and worst of all got double billed for my flight! I like AS but this was too much. The second Rep was just plain mean.
I hate asking for stuff, but if AS doesn't do something I'll NEVER fly them again. I have a bunch of miles and am close to MVP status with my new weekly trips to SJC, but I'll wash my hands of AS after this. So should I call up the Millege Plan, or 1-800-ALASKAAIR, or what? That's the end of this rant....thanks for putting up with it.
