If it's on one ticket, and assuming the interlining is in place to the Tehran airline, then yes that does allow through checking. I have to say these sorts of trips are best done hand baggage only regardless of other factors, I'm not sure how easy it would be in Iran to recover a bag delayed somewhere between London and Moscow.
I'm afraid HBO isn't an option, I'm taking a bike with me! I fully appreciate the faff this entails but exploring some of the destinations by bicycle is a fundamental part of my plans.
The IKA leg is with S7 so hopefully being a OW partner helps.
